Show us Your True Shelf #2

This is a new segment, highlighting the darkest secrets of your blogging and reading habits for the world to see. It is also a great way to promote yourself. If you want to take part, flick me an email on nzproof [at] gmail.com and let me know your blog name.

Today, I have Stacy from Quirky, Confused and Curvy – Musings of the Emotionally Complicated on the blog. If you haven’t had a look at her site, go and check out her honest talk about mental health.

Can you describe your blog in 20 words or less?

Navigating life as a thirty-something woman with anxiety. Social justice and travel on the side.

How do you measure success in a blog?

I think as long as you’re true to yourself and making connections with other readers and writers, that’s most important. Getting my work “out there” is a bonus.

Where do you find information about blogging?

Mostly other WordPress bloggers or Facebook writer/blogger groups

Who is your go-to author on a bad day?

Hmm, probably Jennifer Weiner because she’s so hilarious. I’ve also recently discovered Beatriz Williams and every one of her books has the ability to immerse you completely in another world.

Which book would you love to read but haven’t got around to it yet?

Oh so many. I’ve made probably half a dozen attempts to read Moby Dick in the last 15 years lol
I’m also looking forward to reading The Hate U Give once my friend has finished with it.

What would make you DNF a book? (Did Not Finish)?

I like books with a lot of dialogue, so any story that doesn’t show interaction or conversations between the characters to help the plot along is a no-go for me.

Thanks, Stacy. It looks like you have a few familiar classics in your shelf. I haven’t read Beatriz Williams, but I love immersing myself in a book for a few days to escape the dreary winter we are having.

This is the first in the series. Other bloggers, please let me know if you wish to take part and I’ll send a link to the Google form.

Note: I’ve had a great response to this! Really appreciate the interest, everyone. I will get one of these posts up every few days. Please do interact and let the featured bloggers know their posts are being read, and maybe follow someone new!

  1. Thanks again for the shameless self-promotion opportunity! It’s hot and humid here on the east coast in the States, raining seemingly alllllll the time. I’d definitely recommend Beatriz Williams’ novels, especially her newer one, Summer Wives, and the Schuyler sister series – my favorite was Tiny Little Thing.
My poor bookshelf looks so insignificant! I admittedly haven’t purchased more than a handful of books in the last few years, mainly because I have ZERO room in my tiny house for another shelving unit. And I missed patronizing the library, so most of my recent reads were borrowed. Ah, well. Maybe once I hit the big time, I’ll have my own library……

  2. Oh, definitely – I put way too much thought into what my ideal library would be like! Thanks for sharing!

  5. Aw thanks, Rebecca – yes I love Stacy’s blog too. I’m glad people are finding these interesting! I’m really enjoying doing it as well.
