What is the last book you recommended to someone?

Today, a group of voracious readers are letting you in on the last book they endorsed.

I last recommended Code Name Verity to a fan of historical fiction. She loves The Nightingale and I am sure she will love this clever story of friendship and brave women in World War Two. It is categorized as a Young Adult novel, but it has all the hallmarks of adult historical.

I also suggested The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo to a friend. This is a great read and different from what the cover suggests. I reviewed it recently. A Hollywood star is finally ready to tell her life story and she chooses one young journalist to confess it all to. It is a scathing indictment on the expectations of fame, especially for women.

I recommended The Princess Bride to my brother’s fiancee–and she loved it! So of course I had to tell her all about Cary Elwes’ memoir of the filming experience, titled As You Wish, where he gives the most hilarious stories about making such a hodgepodge, cult-classic film! I also lent my copy of Cornelia Funke’s The Thief Lord to another friend, because her books deserve to be read by everybody!

I’ve been recommending this one non-stop since reading it a few weeks ago, but Boys of Brayshaw High. I just know this book is going to make it into my top reads of 2019 list. It’s an outstanding NA romance with, 3 bad boy alpha heroes, a sassy fierce heroine, and one heck of a cliffy.

What is so funny about this is I rarely recommend books to anyone. I post my reviews but unless someone asks me specifically I don’t recommend anything. However, I actually did recommend The Bride Collector to someone. I had a young lady complaining behind me at the grocery store that she loves thrillers but felt that there weren’t any she could read anymore because her faith kept her from reading sex scenes and gore. Since Mr. Dekker is a Christian Thriller writer and The Bride Collector was the first book of his that I read, I recommended it. And, end result, She fb messaged me that she loved it!

Jo Linsdell www.JoLinsdell.com

The last book I recommended to someone was After You by Jojo Moyes. I recently read Me Before You and then straight after After You. I loved this series and can’t wait to read Still Me to see what Lou Clark gets up to next.
