An Uplifting Group Project

“Of course there were other witches in Dunedin. But they were hidden and they mostly kept to themselves. They showed themselves at night, at coven meetings in the hills and the valleys along the rugged coast.

During the days, they searched for green spaces, walking through the leafy Town Belt or reading in the gardens. They shopped at tiny places crammed in next to second hand clothes stores and pawn shops, nodding to each other in herbal dispensaries, bulk foods stores, art galleries and book shops. Places like Souls of Scrolls.”

Brand of Magic is now up for pre-order! I’m excited for you all to meet Hazel and explore her witchy world of Dunedin. Get it here: mybook.to/brandofmagic

During the lockdown, a group of writers that I’m part of decided we wanted to write fun cosy witchy novellas with a dash of romance, set in New Zealand. This meant we could have something light and magical to focus on and share with our readers. It also gave us a much-needed feeling of community, and as we beta read each others’ stories, we got to know each other better.

The group has a wealth of knowledge from different parts of the publishing process; we have people who are finicky proof-readers, planning and plot wizards, formatting geniuses and those who dabble in marketing sorcery. The members of the group who are less experienced in self-publishing can learn from those who have been at it a while. It’s all a happy muddle.

Our books are releasing from September 21, so if this sounds like something you’d be interested in reading, check it out! The group website is here: www.witchyfiction.com

Books for witches who like Charmed and The Rules of Magic. A sprinkling of fantasy, a touch of humour and a dash of romance!
